. well, the damage from last night's storms causing a lot of cancellations across the area. we want to tell you that all indoor activities at fairfax county schools are cancelled for tomorrow. we have gotten a lot of phone calls. if you're wondering about your plans, church or community group, call them to find out if

and some quiet conditions at the moment. that is good news. we had a storm pop up north and west to 8:00. and look how nice and quiet it is across the region. a good news here again as we look into the overnight hours, our potential for storms is not what it was last night and we're looking better into the morning hours and does not 19 we won't see storms and just warm and muggy and this is that other part of the story. folks don't have electricity and that is some warm temperatures out there at the moment. 86 in washington and i mentioned a few minutes ago, the dew point temperature is running in the 70s and some temperatures combined with the humidity is making for a brutal night out there. 82, annapolis; 81, leonardtown; 79, monasses at dulles and these temperatures are not falling off a lot overnight. i want to show you the high

temperatures today. we're on the northern edge of the worst of the heat and focusing to the south and west. the daytime high, 105 degrees and in to saint louis. puts the nationals down there this afternoon and that is the hottest temperature ever in atlanta today, 106 degrees, amazing. 103 in wilmington. 97 degrees and cooler, hundreds and we had that yesterday. i think later tomorrow, the high temperatures are back in the upper 90s, no heat advisorys and we'll see if we get more for tomorrow afternoon and that is that big thunderstorm complex. that one just missed us. if you were a viewer on to the west, culpepper and to charlottesville, you got in on that thunder action again and severe with a few tornados that developed east of richmond during the nighttime hours and

. well, help is on the way for firefighters battling raging wildfires across colorado. >> and two national guard planes from north carolina are in the state to help battle the blaze. tonight, crews are making some end roads against the flames. city officials say there are still fewer than 10 people missing and so as fire crews go through the burned out areas, they're searching motor fessing morn -- missing persons. the fire grew in size overnight and crews say they at 30% containment and the flames chewed through more than 17,000 acres so far. president obama got an up-close look at the destruction in colorado springs on friday and also met with firefighters to thank them for their work and it was the topic of the president's weeklyro address. >> one of the things i told

them is that we can provide them all of the resources they need, but only they provide the courage and the discipline to be able to fight the fires. >> reporter: some good news for many of the evacuees, they get to go home. 10,000 out of the 32,000 who were initially evacuated from well homes many on evacuation orders. those not going home today will be allowed to tor buses tomorrow to tour the neighborhoods. city officials won't be allowed to leave the vehicles but able to see the property with their own eyes. a lot of this depends on the weather. should the wind change? and folks must be ready to leave at a moment's notice. in colorado springs, colorado, alicia a kahn a fox news. and the news tonight is far from over. >> the news edge at 11 starts now. the newsedge is all over

the severe storm aftermath. states of emergencies declared in maryland, virginia, and d.c. the storms leaving several dead in our region. right now, massive power outages left hundreds of thousands in the dark cursing this extreme hot and more storms are possible. the extreme heat continues to blanket the region. >> and fox 5s tucker barnes is monitoring the situation for us with the latest. >> reporter: looking fairly quiet and thanks for asking and that is on to our radar and switch to vipir, if we could and most of the activity is to the south and east and that is a nice job showing it to you in southeast, virginia, where they had storms there south of fredericksburg and to richmond, reports of several possible tornados on the ground east and north of richmond and that is the match we missed and warm is come -- the batch we missed and now it's warm and muggy.

temperature at reagan national, 86 degrees and that is not comfortable at 11:15 at night. the dew point temperatures in the 70s and some upper 60s, low 70s and winds out of the south at 3 miles per hour and partly cloudy skies, warm and mug overnight. we have a threat of a stray thunderstorm, although most of the area should be fairly quiet overnight and that is some good news. the risk of storms return tomorrow afternoon and some details on that and the five- day, including the holiday. back to you. >> thank you, tucker. and we have some updated power outage. pepco's numbers have gone up. of course, they told us that sometimes trees continue to fall and that they're doing work where they have to take people off of the line for a short amount of time. they reporting at nearly 381,000 customers without power. dominion virginia got better,

less than 341,000 without power and bge's numbers are standing at 50,700. one d.c. man is dead and his wife is badly hurt after a power line came down in front of the house. the neighborhood is dealing with some serious damage tonight. paul wagner has more. >> reporter: just after 11:00 p.m., as the storm's powerful wins were terrifying residence throughout the washington area, two very large trees came down on 31st street northwest. dragging power lines into this yard ultimately electrocuting a man who came out to check on his car. according to police, the man's wife was critically injured as she tried to come to his aid. the car caught fire as police and firefighters raced to the scene. >> tree limbs flying, branches flying and later, we begin to
